Inspiration: We love Halloween in my house and it was time I finally designed a Halloween blanket to celebrate the season. While I made this blanket in Halloween themed colors, I encourage you to play with color combinations with this blanket.

Important Notes
Working into a previous row: This pattern requires that you work your Colors B and C into a previous row. If you take a close look at the photo below you can see that this will make all your Color B and Color C stitches interlock together.
Changing Colors: I use the magic knot method to change my colors. This leaves virtually no ends to weave in! Here is an example of the Magic Knot method that I used in another blanket. You can choose whatever color changing method you would like to use.
Pattern
With Color A, pick your beginning chain method.
Foundation Single Crochet: FSC 176, turn.
Set up Row 1: Ch 1, *sk the next FSC, 3 dc in the next FSC, sk the next FSC, SC in the next FSC* repeat across. Change to Color B, turn.
Traditional Chain
I suggest starting with a 5.5mm hook instead of a 5mm hook to prevent this edge from curling. Ch 178, turn.
Set up Row 1: SC in the second ch from the hook, *sk the next ch, 3 DC in the next ch, sk the next ch, SC in the next ch* repeat across. Change to Color B, turn.
Continuing for both methods…
Set up Row 2: Ch 3 (counts as a DC here and throughout), DC in the first SC, *sk the next DC, SC in the next DC, [DC, ch 1, DC] in the next SC* repeat across until the last 3 sts. Sk the next DC, SC in the next DC, 2 DC in the last SC. Change to Color A, turn.
Set up Row 3: Ch 1, SC in the first DC, *sk the next DC, 3 DC in the next SC, sk the next DC, SC in the next Ch-1 sp* repeat across until you have 2 sts remaining. 3 DC in the next SC, SC in the top of the turning Ch-3. Change to Color C, turn.
Row 1 (Color C): Ch 3, DC in the first SC, *sk the next DC, SC in the next DC, sk the next DC, working over the SC from the previous row [TR, ch 1, TR] in the next ch-1 sp 2 rows below* repeat across until you have 3 sts remaining. Sk the next DC, SC in the next DC, 2 DC in the last SC. Change to Color A, turn.
Row 2 (Color A): Ch 1, SC in the first DC, sk the next DC, *3 DC in the next SC, sk the next TR, SC in the next Ch-1 sp, sk the next TR* repeat across until you have 2 sts remaining. 3 DC in the next SC, SC in the top of the turning Ch-3. Change to Color B, turn.
Row 3 (Color B): Repeat Row 1, changing to Color A at the end.
Row 4 (Color A): Repeat Row 2, changing to Color C at the end.
Repeat Rows 1 – 4 for the rest of the pattern, ending with a Color A row once you have reached 71 Color A rows.
Finishing Row: Ch 1, Sc in each stitch across. Weave in ends.
