The Blacksod Hat

The Blacksod Hat

Disclosure: The Blacksod Hat has been a free pattern since its release in 2020. As of November 2023 this pattern has now moved to a new blogging platform and is only being offered as a paid only PDF download. Thank you for understanding.

The knit Blacksod Hat has been called an "instant classic" and has been one of my all time best selling patterns. You will find yourself immersed in a relaxing cable stitch pattern that both men and women will wear and enjoy for years to come. I named this hat after Blacksod Bay in County Mayo, Ireland. I believe this county may be where some of my family originated from, so I did a little looking around for areas that intrigued me and Blacksod Bay was it. I thought this area was not only beautiful, but you can sight common and grey seals, bottle nosed dolphins and harbor porpoises in this area. I've never been to Ireland, but I've always wanted to see it. Maybe someday!
