The knit Elk and Vine hat and cowl are inspired by velvet Elk antlers and the changing ombre colors of Fall. Elk like to nibble on Vine Maple year-round, so some elongated knit stitches were added to represent twigs and the changing of the seasons.

SUPPLIES NEEDED
Needle Size for Hat: US 9/5.5mm 16” circular needles for the brim.
US 10/6mm 16” circular knitting needles for the body.
Yarn: Do you have just ONE skien of Lion Brand Scarfie Yarn? That's all you need. If not, use a light bulky or heavy worsted weight yarn. You will need 124 yards/113m (60g/2.1oz). The color I used for this hat is "Ice/Gold"
Gauge: 17 pattern stitches in a 4 inch (10cm) wide swatch | 2 horns can be measured from bottom of first to the top of the second in a 4 in (10cm) tall swatch
Final measurements and notes on fit: Hat should stand approximately 10 inches (25cm) tall and will fit children through average (22 inch/56cm) adult sized heads, with varying amount of slouch depending on the head size. Even my toddler has worn this hat!
