The Basalt set is a wonderful, beginner friendly project. Much like the classic game of rock skipping, the garter ridges reminded me of the jumps that are created in the water as you skip stones. Soft, flat, basalt rocks are perfect for getting the best skips. My husband and kids always like to see who can find the best rock and skip it the furthest when we are visiting a lake.
This hat is a two row repeat that only uses knit and purl stitches that you’ll be able to knit from anywhere! A great project for beginners through experienced knitters who just want a quick and mindless pattern. It’s also a perfect pattern for on-the-go knitting or night time TV binging.
Construction: Knit in the round
Needle Sizes: US 7/4.5mm 16" circular needles for the brim and US 9/5.5mm 16" circular needles for the body. You will also need to either use straight needles or the magic loop method for the decrease section.
Sizes & Yarn Needed: I have designed the Basalt Beanie in one size, which fits size ranges from 19-22 inch (48 - 56 cm), which makes it perfect for toddler through adult sizes.
- One Size - fits most children through adults: 160 yards/146 m (3 oz/85 g)
Yarn: Worsted weight yarn
